How do sentence diagrams help represent and visualize the structure of a sentence?


Objectives:
  • Students will diagram sentences with subjects, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases.
  • Students will demonstrate how modifiers relate to the word they describe in a sentence.


Materials:

  • Homework from previous night (handout)
  • Notebook/iPad
  • Paper/pen
  • Whiteboard/Markers

Activities:
  • Review homework from yesterday (diagramming with adjectives and adverbs)
  • Take notes on diagramming sentences with prepositional phrases.
